Punjabi Cultural and Sports Club

Established in 2002, the Punjabi Cultural & Sports Club (WA) Inc. (PCSC) is a not-for-profit sporting and community organisation based in Perth, Western Australia. What began as an initiative to promote sport and physical activity within the Sikh community has grown into a vibrant community club focused on sport, culture, connection, wellbeing and leadership across generations.

PCSC creates opportunities for people of all ages and genders to participate in sport, build friendships and stay connected to their community. Today, our club brings together more than 250 members and 50 registered players, with participation continuing to grow across our sporting and community programs.

Sport, Culture & Community

Sport has always been at the heart of PCSC. Since 2002, the club has supported and participated in a wide range of sports, including soccer, netball, cricket, basketball, volleyball, badminton and athletics. We currently have teams competing in soccer and netball, with plans to continue expanding our sporting opportunities in the seasons ahead.

Beyond sport, PCSC plays an active role in celebrating and preserving our rich Sikh and Punjabi heritage. Over the years, we have organised and supported events including Vaisakhi Games, dinner dances, Lohri, Teeyan and other cultural and social celebrations, creating spaces for our community to come together, celebrate and connect.

We also believe strongly in encouraging younger generations to understand and carry forward their cultural heritage. Through opportunities to learn Punjabi, Bhangra and Giddha, alongside participation in sport and community events, we aim to create a strong connection between culture, identity and community.

Growing Leaders, Building Community

A key part of PCSC’s journey has been our commitment to youth participation and leadership. Over the past decade, we have actively encouraged young people to become involved not only as players and participants, but also as volunteers, organisers and committee members.

As generations have grown within the club, many of the young people who once participated in PCSC activities are now helping to lead it. This ongoing transition allows the club to evolve, adapt and welcome new ideas while remaining grounded in the values and foundations established by those who came before us.

We are particularly proud to provide opportunities for young people and women to participate openly and confidently in sport, without barriers or bias. We encourage our teams and players to participate in local, state, national and international competitions, helping develop confidence, leadership, teamwork and a sense of belonging.

Connected Beyond the Club

PCSC believes that sport is more than competition. It is a platform for developing confidence, resilience, teamwork and leadership while creating meaningful connections between people and communities.

Our involvement extends beyond our own club, with PCSC supporting, hosting and co-organising community initiatives across Perth and working alongside a range of community organisations. We continue to strengthen our focus on physical and mental wellbeing, community connection, youth development and participation, using sport and culture as powerful ways to bring people together.

PCSC is also proud to be a member of the Australian National Sikh Sports and Cultural Council (ANSSACC), connecting our club with the broader Sikh sporting and cultural community across Australia.

Our Thanks

PCSC exists because of the people who have given their time, energy and passion over more than two decades. We are incredibly grateful to our past and present committee members, players, volunteers, families, sponsors and supporters whose contributions have helped build the club we have today.

From the first teams and committees in 2002 to the generations now stepping forward to lead, PCSC is a club built on community, carried forward through generations and continually shaped by the people who call it home.
